Neocaridina are low-maintenance, but they thrive best when their environment mimics nature:
The Ecosystem: They love heavily planted tanks. Mosses (like Java or Weeping moss) and floating plants provide excellent hiding spots for babies and surface area for biofilm to grow.
Substrate: Unlike their pickier cousins (Caridina shrimp), Neocaridina do perfectly fine on inert substrates like plain gravel or black diamond sand.
Diet: They are natural scavengers and excellent clean-up crews. They spend all day grazing on algae and biofilm. In an aquarium, they eat specialized shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables (like zucchini or spinach), and snowflake food.
